Accounting Manager / Controller

Location: Southwest Houston, TX - In-Office, 5 days/week
Reports To: President
Type: Full-Time

We are looking for an Accounting Manager / Controller who wants to be part of something bigger, see our vision, and actively add to it.

If your ideal workday is sitting in a corner quietly entering journal entries and working on tax compliance, this is not the role for you. We need an operational, forward-thinking financial leader. You will be the financial pulse of the company, responsible for giving the President clear, daily, and weekly insights into the health of the business. You won't just report numbers - you will read them, forecast trends, investigate anomalies out of sheer curiosity, and proactively bring solutions or concerns to leadership before they even ask.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operational Financial Leadership - Own the operational accounting (not tax, not just GL). Manage invoicing, timekeeping software, billing, AR, and commission structures
• Proactive Forecasting and Analysis - Look beyond standard compliance. Deliver accurate forecasting and resolve balance sheet discrepancies swiftly
• Intercompany and External Communication - Interface heavily with internal operations staff, clients, and vendors. Client-facing communication is required
• Team Development - Actively mentor and grow junior talent
• Executive Support - Act as a bold, strategic partner to the President while maintaining extreme confidentiality
• Process Optimization - Constantly evaluate how we do things, including leveraging AI and automation to focus on high-level strategy

What We Are Looking For:

• The right mindset - accounting or finance degree with the ability to think dynamically about what numbers mean for business growth; bridges the gap between risk-averse accuracy and bold execution
• Extreme accountability and follow-through - you don't just talk about ideas, you execute them, document them, and see them through to the finish line
• Must live in or very close to Southwest Houston - this is a 100% in-office role, 5 days a week; hybrid is not an option
• Fully embedded availability - you want to be deeply involved in the business and available to drive its success
