Operations Director

Harlem Village Academies (HVA) is a national thought leader in deeper learning, offering Montessori PreK-Language arts through the International Baccalaureate (IB) and a complete PK‑12 continuum. Our schools serve a diverse community of primarily Black and Latino students who consistently outperform district, city, and state peers. Every high school graduate from HVA earns admission to college, with 83% being first‑generation college students. The Operations Director works closely with the Principal to ensure effective school operations so educators and learners can focus on pedagogy. The role demands a highly intelligent, driven individual with warmth, integrity, and a proven track record of collaborating within a motivated, results‑oriented team. Responsibilities Own all operational and logistical systems, allowing the Principal to concentrate on instructional leadership. Lead school culture initiatives: plan events, foster strong relationships, and leverage community ties to resolve challenges. Plan and execute educational programs such as Saturday School, field trips, special events, and professional development sessions. Mastermind school scheduling to optimize class time and facility use throughout the school year. Build and maintain relationships with neighboring schools and the surrounding community. Create systems for effective communication among staff, students, and families. Lead the annual student recruitment process. Manage vendor relationships and ensure efficient purchasing and maintenance of supplies. Serve as the first line of defense for technology incidents. Track and manage non‑personnel expenses within the school operating budget. Qualifications Preferably bilingual in Spanish. Minimum of 5 years of professional experience, with school‑based work required and teaching experience preferred. Demonstrated skill in cultivating relationships and motivating teams. Strong project management abilities to lead complex projects to successful completion. Creative problem‑solving skills for organizational challenges. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Dedication to top‑level customer service for teachers and families. High‑energy, positive attitude and drive for personal excellence. The salary range for this position is $97,000 – $121,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. HVA offers a competitive benefits package at market value.
