Job Title: Pediatric Stepdown Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Pediatric Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: - Minimum of 2 years required License: - Active license required Certifications: - BLS - PALS Must-Have: - Strongly prefer travel experience - Experience in pediatric care is preferred Description: This position is for a Pediatric Stepdown Nurse in a Short Stay Unit. The nurse will work 3 nights per week, with a typical patient ratio of 1:3. Experience in respiratory diagnoses, high flow nasal cannula, and continuous nebulization is essential. Responsibilities include the administration of medications and treatment plans. The nurse will also assist with procedures such as lumbar punctures and manage central lines. Additional duties involve providing support for breastfeeding and handling of breast milk. Infection prevention and management of chest tubes are part of the daily responsibilities. Nurses should be proficient in pediatric dosage calculations and monitoring telemetry. Collaboration with an interdisciplinary team is expected, including physical therapy and social services. The unit typically cares for infants and adolescents with general medical and respiratory diagnoses.
