Accounting Manager

We are a fast‑growing company in the events and experiences industry seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations and lead a small, high‑performing team. The Accounting Manager will play a key role in the month‑end close process, vendor management, tax compliance & continuous process improvement while mentoring two direct reports. Responsibilities Manage and develop a team of two accounting professionals, providing coaching, mentorship, and performance management. Own the monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close processes, ensuring timely & accurate financial reporting. Review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and balance‑sheet reconciliations. Oversee accounts payable operations, vendor onboarding, payment approvals & vendor relationship management. Ensure compliance with sales tax, use tax, 1099 reporting & other federal, state, and local tax requirements. Partner with operations and event teams to ensure accurate accounting for event‑related revenue & expenses. Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows through automation, improved controls & standardized processes. Assist with annual audits by preparing schedules & supporting external auditors. Maintain & strengthen internal controls & accounting policies. Support budgeting, forecasting, & cash‑flow planning as needed. Participate in ERP system enhancements & other finance‑related projects. Assist leadership with ad‑hoc financial analysis & special projects. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role. Strong understanding of GAAP & month‑end close processes. Experience managing vendor relationships and AP operations. Knowledge of sales tax, use tax, & 1099 compliance. Advanced Excel skills with experience working in modern ERP systems. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities. Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner cross‑functionally. Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment. Preferred Qualifications CPA or CPA candidate preferred. Experience in the events, hospitality, entertainment, experiential marketing, or project‑based services industry. Experience leading process improvement initiatives or ERP implementations. Familiarity with multi‑entity or multi‑location accounting environments. What Success Looks Like Month‑end close is completed accurately & on schedule. Vendor relationships & payment processes are efficient & well‑managed. Tax filings are completed accurately & on time. Accounting processes become increasingly automated & scalable.
