Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A professional pharmacist opportunity is available for a 2nd shift role supporting long-term care (LTC) and mail order pharmacy environments. This position offers a contract to hire arrangement for approximately 26 weeks, with the potential to transition to a permanent role.
Location: Scranton, PA
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM
- Rotating every 3rd weekend (Saturday & Sunday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately accept and dispense prescription medications in compliance with legal regulations.
- Monitor patient medication use to ensure compliance and identify over-usage patterns.
- Verify that prescribed medications are appropriate and safe for patients.
- Maintain confidential and accurate patient and pharmacy records.
- Provide detailed consultation to patients regarding medication usage, side effects, and drug interactions.
- Offer additional patient services, including smoking cessation support, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.
- Educate patients on proper use and care of medical devices such as glucose meters and blood pressure monitors.
- Compound medications, including sterile solutions, following established safety procedures.
- Supervise pharmacy staff, including pharmacy technicians and clerks, ensuring workflow efficiency.
- Manage pharmaceutical and medical supply inventory effectively.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to resolve drug-related problems and optimize patient care.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid Pennsylvania pharmacist license required.
- Experience in long-term care pharmacy strongly preferred.
- Mail order pharmacy experience is a plus.
- Sterile compounding knowledge and experience highly desirable.
