General Attorney (Labor) (Appellate Litigation Attorney)

This position is located in the Division of Enforcement Litigation, Appellate and Supreme Court Litigation Branch. The function of the Appellate and Supreme Court Litigation Branch is to conduct the litigation in the U.S. Court of Appeals and Supreme Court involving the enforcement or review of Board Orders. This is a developmental position leading to the full performance grade of GS-905-14. The incumbent serves as a general attorney under the general direction of a Supervisory Attorney. All qualifications and eligibility requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement.

IDEAL CANDIDATE STATEMENT

The ideal candidate for the General Attorney (Labor) will have working knowledge in traditional labor or employment law. The candidate has demonstrated an ability to provide expert legal analysis and advocacy in an efficient manner on complicated matters. The candidate has experience drafting complex legal arguments and has exemplary legal research and written and oral communications skills.

BASIC REQUIREMENT

Education: Must have successfully completed a full course of study in a school of law accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) and have the first professional law degree (LL.B. or J.D.). Law school transcripts must be submitted at the time of application. Bar Membership and Certification: Must currently be a member in good standing of the bar of a state, territory, or commonwealth of the United States, District of Columbia, or Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Your active Bar license must reference Bar number and indicate the status of good standing . Agency Internal Self-Certification Forms are not acceptable for verification. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must have one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 grade level, which has provided them with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of a General Attorney (Labor) (Appellate Litigation Attorney) at the GS-13 grade level. Specialized experience includes: Experience working with labor laws and conducting research such as reviewing statutes, decisions, opinions, or legislative history; and Experience drafting written documents, such as legal memoranda or briefs; and Experience presenting oral arguments or making oral presentations. This experience must be fully supported and articulated in your resume to receive consideration.
