Locums Cardiovascular Surgery Physician

A Level II Trauma Center in Kearney, NE is seeking a Locums Cardiovascular Surgery Physician to provide 24-hour cardiothoracic surgery coverage. This opportunity is ideal for a board-certified cardiovascular or cardiothoracic surgeon experienced in both cardiac and thoracic procedures and comfortable managing surgical call responsibilities in a busy hospital-based setting.

The physician will provide comprehensive cardiothoracic surgical coverage, including cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery, trauma-related thoracic cases, and inpatient management.

Practice Setting: Hospital-Based

Facility Type: Level II Trauma Center

Shift Type: 24-Hour Cardiothoracic Surgery Coverage

Weekend Requirements: On-call coverage required

On-Call Requirements: Night call coverage

EMR: Epic

Clinical Responsibilities

Provide 24-hour cardiothoracic surgery coverage

Evaluate and manage cardiac and thoracic surgical patients

Perform inpatient rounding and postoperative management

Respond to cardiothoracic surgical consults and emergencies

Collaborate with hospitalists, intensivists, emergency physicians, anesthesiologists, and surgical staff

Participate in trauma-related thoracic surgery coverage as required

Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Epic

Required Procedures

Candidates must be experienced and comfortable performing:

Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)

Heart valve repair and replacement procedures

Thoracic surgery procedures

Trauma-related thoracic surgical care within a Level II Trauma Center environment

Qualifications

MD or DO required

Board Certified in Cardiovascular Surgery or Cardiothoracic Surgery required

Active Nebraska medical license highly preferred

Active Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC) physicians will be considered

Current ACLS certification required

Current BLS certification required

Active DEA registration required
