Accounts Receivable Specialist

Opportunity Summary

Put your accounts receivable skills to work for a well-established San Diego nonprofit that helps individuals and families move from homelessness toward lasting stability and self-sufficiency . Accurate billing and timely collections keep funding flowing to programs that change lives, so your work has a direct impact on the community . This immediate-start, hybrid role is ideal for an experienced AR professional who can step in quickly and bring order to a busy accounting team.

Responsibilities

• Process invoices, post incoming payments, and keep customer and payment records accurate in the accounting system.
• Track outstanding balances and make outbound collection calls to resolve past-due accounts.
• Investigate and correct short payments, payment discrepancies, and account errors.
• Build AR aging reports, reconcile AR balances, and support month-end close.
• Partner with customers and internal departments to communicate account status and settle payment issues.

Qualifications

Required

• 3–5 years of Accounts Receivable experience.
• Hands-on experience with invoicing, cash applications, collections (including outbound collection calls), and account reconciliation.
• Strong Excel skills and working knowledge of accounting systems.

Preferred

• Experience with NetSuite or a similar ERP/accounting system.
• Prior nonprofit accounting experience.
• Experience supporting month-end close and preparing AR aging reports.
