Accounts Receivable Specialist Job Snapshot • Location: San Diego, CA (Near Downtown) | Hybrid • Pay: $25 - $30/hour • Shift/Schedule: 3 days onsite / 2 days remote; immediate start • Employment Type: Contract • Work Type: Full-time • Experience Level: Mid Level • Duration: 1–3+ months Opportunity Summary Put your accounts receivable skills to work for a well-established San Diego nonprofit that helps individuals and families move from homelessness toward lasting stability and self-sufficiency . Accurate billing and timely collections keep funding flowing to programs that change lives, so your work has a direct impact on the community . This immediate-start, hybrid role is ideal for an experienced AR professional who can step in quickly and bring order to a busy accounting team. Responsibilities Process invoices, post incoming payments, and keep customer and payment records accurate in the accounting system. Track outstanding balances and make outbound collection calls to resolve past-due accounts. Investigate and correct short payments, payment discrepancies, and account errors. Build AR aging reports, reconcile AR balances, and support month-end close. Partner with customers and internal departments to communicate account status and settle payment issues. Qualifications Required 3–5 years of Accounts Receivable experience. Hands-on experience with invoicing, cash applications, collections (including outbound collection calls), and account reconciliation. Strong Excel skills and working knowledge of accounting systems. Preferred Experience with NetSuite or a similar ERP/accounting system. Prior nonprofit accounting experience. Experience supporting month-end close and preparing AR aging reports.
