Accounts Receivable Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable Specialist for an immediate temporary opportunity with a well-established San Diego nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals and families overcome homelessness and achieve greater stability and self-sufficiency.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced AR professional who can quickly step in and support a busy accounting team. The ideal candidate will have 35 years of accounts receivable experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage collections and account reconciliation in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage day-to-day accounts receivable activities, including invoicing, payment posting, and account reconciliation.
• Monitor outstanding receivables and proactively follow up on past-due accounts.
• Research and resolve payment discrepancies, short payments, and account issues.
• Maintain accurate customer and payment records within the accounting system.
• Prepare AR aging reports and assist with collection efforts.
• Reconcile AR balances and assist with month-end close activities.
• Communicate professionally with customers and internal departments regarding account status and payment issues.
• Provide additional accounting support as needed.

Qualifications:

• 35 years of Accounts Receivable experience required.
• Strong experience with invoicing, cash applications, collections, and account reconciliation.
• Comfortable making outbound collection calls and following up on outstanding balances.
• Strong Excel and general accounting system skills.
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and quickly learn established processes.
• Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP/accounting systems is a plus.
• Previous nonprofit experience is helpful but not required.

Assignment Details: This is an immediate-hire temporary position expected to last approximately 13+ months, depending on business needs. The position offers a hybrid schedule with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote. The office is located in San Diego near Downtown.
