POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Oregon Donor Alliance is searching for a dynamic individual to serve as its Membership Engagement Director. The Membership Engagement Director will work closely with the Executive Director to mobilize resources to advance a progressive movement rooted in racial justice; create a welcoming, productive and shared learning space for values-aligned donors; and establish a political home for community members seeking connection and a place to strategically and ethically invest in our collective future. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives at the intersection of strategy and relationshipbuilding, bringing deep curiosity, political alignment, and a genuine commitment to supporting donors as partners in longterm movement work. They will be energized by cultivating community, facilitating learning, and helping donors connect their resources to longterm, justicecentered movement building across Oregon.ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
The Oregon Donor Alliance (ODA) is a 501(c)(4) with an affiliated 501(c)(3) fund that mobilizes political and civic engagement giving, learning, and action to advance a movement rooted in racial justice. To move toward a future where all Oregonians have agency and access to a vibrant democracy, the Oregon Donor Alliance sees it role as: Community: Grow and nurture a sustainable and reflective donor learning community in which we share best practices on how to build long-term power and a thriving democracy through high impact investments in Oregon; Catalyst: Identify needs and unique opportunities in targeted geographies and communities and invest resources to build sustainable infrastructure that builds durable capacity and power in communities of color, rural communities and other groups historically sidelined in our democracy; Connection: Build meaningful connections at the local and national levels of investors, organizational leaders and on-the-ground activists that move power and resources through a strategic vision to elect people who represent their communities, values and needs and help support effective governance and holding decision-makers accountable; Communicate: Develop a clear vision and deliver a simple, compelling story of our collective vision rooted in how, who, and why we will build progressive power year-round, year after year.RESPONSIBILITIES
Fundraising Strategy and Systems (30%) This role leads a valuesaligned fundraising strategy that connects ODA’s revenue goals to its mission of building longterm, communityrooted power. You will help grow a donor community that sees itself as part of a shared political movement — using data, storytelling, and relationshipbuilding to deepen alignment over time. Specifically, you will: Develop and implement an integrated fundraising strategy – including leading an individual donor campaign to raise at least $200,000 annually. Maintain and improve fundraising systems, including CRM practices, segmentation, and donor tracking. Manage ODA’s database and email platform, ensuring accurate, timely, and accessible donor information. Build internal fundraising tools such as templates, outreach materials, data visuals, and training resources. Support the Executive Director in managing relationships with key institutional partners, funder tables, and political coalitions. Identify, pursue, and renew grant opportunities aligned with ODA’s longterm goals; oversee grant writing, submission, and reporting. Track progress toward fundraising goals and adjust strategy as needed. Donor Organizing, Recruitment, and Cultivation (40%) In partnership with the Executive Director, this role coleads donor organizing — connecting ODA members to the strategies, people, and stories driving change in Oregon. You’ll help build a donor community that feels connected, informed, and aligned with ODA’s political vision. Specifically, you will: Identify and cultivate prospective members, building a strong pipeline of new donors. Codevelop and lead strategies for donor recruitment, engagement, and stewardship. Lead oneonone and smallgroup donor conversations, representing ODA alongside or in place of the Executive Director as needed. Organize meaningful donor engagement activities — including briefings, events, and learning sessions — ensuring followup actions are tracked and completed. Develop and lead effective communications tools and content including website and periodic newsletter. Identify opportunities to collaborate with partner organizations to educate, steward, and inspire donors. Political Education and Donor Learning (20%) ODA is committed to building a reflective donor learning community that understands how longterm power is built in Oregon. This role leads the development of political education that strengthens donor alignment and deepens their connection to movement strategy. Build and implement a political education curriculum tailored for donors. Facilitate learning sessions, workshops, and briefings that enhance donor understanding of Oregon’s progressive ecosystem. Share best practices on building longterm power and infrastructure for equitable progressive wins. Help donors connect their giving to communityrooted strategies, especially in communities of color and other marginalized communities. Organizational Strategy and Leadership (10%) This role supports organizational alignment across fundraising, program strategy, and political vision — helping ensure ODA’s structure advances its mission to organize money and build power. Serve as a strategic thought partner to the Executive Director and board. Support board development and capacity, particularly around fundraising and donor engagement. Support annual budgeting and goalsetting processes, connecting financial planning to strategic priorities. Represent ODA in external coalitions and funder tables as needed. Contribute to organizational culture by modeling curiosity, shared leadership, and political alignmentQUALIFICATIONS
7+ years in political, nonprofit, campaign, philanthropic, or movement settings — especially roles bridging strategy, relationships, and fundraising. 5+ years designing and implementing fundraising, donor engagement or member organizing. Demonstrated success managing a donor portfolio, including solicitation experience. Strong narrative and communications skills; able to turn complex information into compelling messages that inspire action. Experience planning and executing purposedriven events that connect people with mission and meaning Strong facilitation and collaboration skills. Strong project management skills; able to lead projects from start to finish and juggle multiple priorities. Deep commitment to building multiracial, crossclass power in Oregon, with a clear analysis of how race and class shape our movement.SKILLS
Familiarity with Oregon’s civic engagement, political ecosystem and funding landscape. Experience in donor or member organizing, communitycentric fundraising, or political donor tables. Experience with c3, c4, and PAC structures preferred.
