Our client is adding a litigation attorney to its growing nationwide consumer class action practice, with a primary focus on data breach cases. MB Attorney Search is conducting this retained search.

Prior data breach experience is not required. Federal court litigation experience is preferred.

The firm is prepared to train a strong litigator who brings excellent writing skills, substantive motion practice, sound judgment, and the initiative to move cases forward.

Attorneys with backgrounds in consumer protection, complex commercial litigation, privacy, antitrust, securities, employment class actions, or class action defense are encouraged to apply. Defense-side attorneys interested in moving into plaintiffs’ work are welcome.

The Work

You will help represent consumers whose personal information has been compromised, working on an active and growing docket of data breach class actions.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Investigating potential cases and developing claims and litigation strategy.
• Drafting complaints, substantive motions, briefs, and settlement papers.
• Managing discovery, deadlines, and substantial components of cases.
• Communicating with clients and coordinating with co-counsel, experts, and the litigation team.
• Participating in court appearances, arguments, mediations, and settlement negotiations.
• Taking increasing responsibility for independently managing matters.

What You Bring

The ideal candidate has approximately 3–8 years of substantive civil litigation experience , although exceptional candidates outside that range may be considered.

The firm particularly values:

• Strong legal research and persuasive writing.
• Hands-on experience drafting substantive pleadings and briefs.
• Meaningful responsibility for cases or significant portions of litigation.
• The judgment and initiative to identify next steps, meet deadlines, and follow through.
• An interest in representing consumers and developing a plaintiffs’ class action practice.

Data breach, privacy, consumer protection, and class action experience are valuable, but not prerequisites. Strong litigators from other substantive civil litigation practices will be considered.

Admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction is required.

The firm is based in Chicago , and fully remote or hybrid arrangements are available. Occasional travel may be required for court appearances and other case-related needs.
