About the Role

The Company is in search of a Chief of Talent Strategy to take on a senior leadership role in attorney recruiting and talent management. The successful candidate will be tasked with leading and executing the firmwide attorney recruiting strategy, overseeing the full-cycle hiring process, and partnering with Practice Group Leaders to identify and meet the firm's current and future hiring needs. This pivotal position requires a strategic, relationship-driven leader with a strong legal recruiting background and an established network within the legal community, particularly in the Chicago area. The role also involves supporting attorney development, retention, and succession planning initiatives, and staying competitive by monitoring market trends and competitor activities. Applicants for the Chief of Talent Strategy role at the company should have a Bachelor's degree (advanced degree preferred) and at least 8 years' of experience in legal recruiting, attorney development, or talent management. A strong understanding of law firm structure, economics, and career progression is essential, as is a proven track record in recruiting attorneys across multiple practice areas. The ideal candidate will have experience working with law firm leadership and Practice Group Leaders, and possess strong organizational, project management, and communication skills. While not mandatory, experience in a mid-sized or large law firm environment, managing summer associate or law school recruiting programs, and familiarity with performance management and succession planning are all considered advantageous. Professional certifications such as SHRM, HRCI, or related certifications are a plus.
