Customer Service Representative

Customer Service Representative Provides high‑quality administrative and customer support to the City of Elk Grove’s Code Enforcement Division and Housing and Public Services Division. Serves as the first point of contact for residents, tenants, business owners, property owners, and community members seeking assistance with code enforcement concerns, housing inquiries, and homelessness‑related service requests. Responsibilities Handle inbound calls, emails, and in‑person inquiries from the public and staff. Triage requests, gather accurate information, and route matters to appropriate staff, department, or service provider. Maintain records and track follow‑up items using case‑management and general database systems. Process department forms, verify information, collect fees, and post payments. Compose correspondence and reports, and prepare bank deposits as needed. Provide general office support including typing, record keeping, proofreading, and maintaining schedules. Assist with asset management such as ordering supplies, monitoring inventory, and maintaining reception area. Perform related duties as assigned, including handling mail and scheduling. Qualifications Completion of 12th grade and at least one year of experience providing administrative support or customer service in an environment with heavy public contact. Knowledge of customer‑service techniques, record‑keeping principles, clerical accounting, and financial record‑keeping. Ability to understand and interpret federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations relevant to the area. Strong interpersonal, communication, and multitasking skills; ability to de‑escalate upset customers. Proficiency in using computer systems, software applications, and modern business equipment. Basic mathematical skills and the ability to maintain organized files and records. Ability to work in a fast‑paced public‑service environment and manage multiple priorities. Basic computer and software knowledge relevant to work performed.
