Intervention ELA Teacher - Middle School

Position Summary The Intervention ELA Teacher provides targeted literacy instruction to students who require additional academic support in reading and writing. Working in collaboration with classroom teachers and support staff, the teacher delivers evidence-based interventions, monitors student progress, and helps students develop the skills necessary to meet grade‑level literacy standards. Middle School Intervention ELA Teacher The Intervention ELA Teacher provides targeted literacy instruction to students who require additional academic support in reading and writing. Working in collaboration with classroom teachers and support staff, the teacher delivers evidence‑based interventions, monitors student progress, and helps students develop the skills necessary to meet grade‑level literacy standards. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate ELA or content area endorsement. Knowledge of evidence-based literacy interventions, instructional strategies, and assessment practices. Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and colleagues. Regular and reliable attendance. Essential Functions, Physical Demands, And Work Environment Deliver targeted intervention in reading, writing, vocabulary, and comprehension to students needing additional support. Assess student learning using formal and informal data to determine areas of need and track progress. Design and implement individualized or small‑group instructional plans based on student performance and IEP/504 accommodations. Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and RTI/MTSS teams to align interventions with classroom instruction. Maintain accurate records of student progress and provide timely feedback to students, families, and staff. Integrate technology and district resources to support literacy interventions. Participate in professional development focused on reading interventions and evidence‑based instructional strategies. Support school‑wide literacy initiatives and attend required meetings and trainings. Physical Demands and Work Environment Work is performed primarily in a classroom and school environment with regular interaction with students and staff. The position requires the ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the classroom and school building for extended periods while supervising and instructing students. The employee may occasionally bend, stoop, reach, and lift classroom materials or equipment up to approximately 20 pounds. The position requires the ability to operate instructional technology and visually and verbally monitor student behavior and classroom activities. The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
