Construction Accountant - Avon, MA

The Construction Accountant is responsible for managing the financial reporting, job cost tracking, and budget analysis for multiple construction projects. This role plays a key part in ensuring accuracy in project costing, compliance with GAAP, and financial planning efforts across the organization. The ideal candidate will have experience in construction accounting, strong attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across project and management teams. Key Responsibilities Maintain and reconcile job cost ledgers, including reviewing project budgets, cost-to-complete forecasts, and actual expenses. Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements and project-specific reports. Enter subcontractor and vendor invoices, ensuring proper coding and compliance with contracts. Track project billing, including AIA billings, change orders, retainage, and lien waivers. Collaborate with project managers to review job performance, update forecasts, and support project closeouts. Assist in the preparation of Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and job cost analysis reports. Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and industry-specific accounting practices. Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 3+ years of experience in construction or real estate development accounting. Strong knowledge of job cost accounting, WIP schedules, and AIA billing procedures preferred but not required Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage 300 CRE, Viewpoint, Procore, or similar). Skills Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Strong organizational and time management skills. Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with ERP/accounting systems. Ability to communicate effectively with project teams, vendors, and senior leadership.
