Senior Director R&D

Becton Dickinson seeks a Senior Director of Research & Development to lead the Acute Care Platform R&D organization within the Urology & Critical Care business. This strategic role oversees development and commercialization of next-generation medical technologies, including connected devices, software-enabled solutions, and AI/ML systems, while managing global cross-functional teams and driving innovation aligned with business growth.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute Acute Care Platform R&D strategy aligned with business objectives and innovation priorities
- Lead end-to-end product development from concept through commercialization, ensuring regulatory compliance
- Direct complex programs involving hardware, software, systems engineering, and connected healthcare solutions
- Lead global cross-functional teams to deliver projects on schedule, scope, and budget
- Develop, mentor, and inspire high-performing teams of scientists, engineers, and technical leaders
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related technical discipline
- 12+ years progressive R&D and new product development in medical device industry
- Demonstrated success leading complex medical device development programs through commercialization
- Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and large development portfolios
- Proven track record commercializing Class I, II, and/or III medical devices
- Experience with systems engineering, software, hardware, and capital equipment development
- Strong business acumen with budget management and investment decision experience
