Job Description:

Essential Function:

Coordinates activities related to the procurement of materials, products and services for Silfex, in support of the daily operations by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assures that the materials, products and/or services are ordered and delivered on schedule in a cost-effective manner while meeting all quality and corporate standards of the company.
• Maintains timely control and accuracy of orders, amendments, shipping notices, and other documents to ensure accurate retention of records through use of our ERP software.
• Analyzes the requirements of the material, product or service, including preliminary specifications, preferred supplier, and date needed.
• Solicits and evaluates proposals for the requested material, product or service.
• Investigates and/or interviews potential suppliers to determine if they meet the specified requirements.
• Advises company personnel or management on the appropriate supplier to be used.
• Negotiates the lowest possible cost balanced against the optimum quality and production needs.
• Implements purchase contracts that comply with company and government regulations.
• Coordinates appropriate methods needed to distribute the material or product in a cost-effective manner.
• Tracks the performance of suppliers in quality, service, cost and delivery.
• Develops and maintains a working knowledge of the Silfex Quality Management System and properly apply Quality Procedures and Operating Procedures as appropriate.
• Follows all company safety policies and report any unsafe conditions to management.
• Assists in applying lean manufacturing concepts and 5S.
• Performs tasks/duties related to special projects or assignments.
• Performs other duties as assigned by department management.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field; or a High School Diploma/GED with 5 + years' purchasing experience. Certification as an Accredited Purchasing Practitioner (A.P.P.), Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) or Certified Purchasing Professional (C.P.P.) is desirable.
• Proficiency in the use of personal computers to include knowledge in the use of the Internet and software programs such as Microsoft Office products and ERP systems.
• Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Must be able to multi-task effectively in a high paced environment.

• Must be able to work effectively individually and in a team environment.

• Must possess strong attention to details.

• Must be able to perform successfully under minimum supervision.

• Must be able to attain sufficient task success to establish credibility with management, staff and employees.

Physical Demands:
