Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) Engineer, Energy

Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) Engineer Halff is seeking an Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) Engineer to lead and support the design and execution of electrical power and instrumentation systems for midstream and upstream Oil & Gas and pipeline projects. This role combines technical design, project management support, client interaction, mentoring, and business development. Location Oklahoma City, OK Responsibilities Prepare engineering documents, drawings, plans, and specifications in coordination with Project Managers. Manage multiple projects, including scheduling, resources, and quality control. Perform field visits to collect data, support construction, and strengthen client relationships. Lead projects, making technical recommendations and resolving complex design issues. Mentor junior engineers and grow team expertise. Interface with utilities, vendors, and contractors to coordinate design and installations. Develop equipment specifications and perform design reviews, calculations, and system studies. Apply power system analysis software (SKM, ETAP, MilSoft, etc.) for modeling and troubleshooting. Support proposals, estimates, and client presentations to help grow the business. Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Professional Engineer (PE) license (or ability to obtain within 6 months). 5+ years of I&E engineering experience, preferably in Oil & Gas or energy. Technical leadership and mentoring experience. Proficiency with industrial control systems, medium/low voltage power, protective relays, switchgear, MCCs, and distribution equipment. Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 70E, API, AGA; NESC knowledge is a plus. AutoCAD and Microsoft Office proficiency; field/construction support experience preferred. Technical Skills Control systems, PLCs, SCADA, instrumentation, and network architecture design. Proficiency in power system analysis software. Knowledge of hazardous area electrical classification. Personal Competencies Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to build client confidence and manage multiple priorities. Collaborative mindset with willingness to mentor and learn. Travel up to ~10%.
