The Role Philosophy Reporting directly to the CEO of UME Holdings, an environmental services leader based in Montreal, Canada, the General Manager is the hands‑on leader responsible for daily performance at Jet Blast. This role requires an operator who is close to the field, visible to crews, decisive with customers, and accountable for building a performance‑driven organization. The General Manager will translate company goals into practical operating priorities across field execution, customer service, scheduling, labor productivity, equipment utilization, safety, and financial performance. They will bring structure and discipline to the business without losing the loyalty, teamwork, and pride that already exist in the organization. As the leader of Jet Blast, the General Manager will guide the Company through its next phase of growth by improving daily execution, strengthening the management team, increasing equipment utilization, deepening customer relationships, and creating a more active commercial rhythm. They will help the business grow by doing the basics better, raising expectations, and building the operating habits required for a best‑in‑class industrial services company. Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership Provide oversight of operations across multiple sites, maintaining regular field presence ensuring work is properly planned, crews are productive, equipment is used effectively, and service is delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard, holding site and operations leadership accountable for execution. Lead and develop the operations manager, site supervisors, and field teams, fostering accountability and performance excellence. Establish and maintain standardized operating procedures (SOPs), best practices, and performance benchmarks. Serve as Executive Stakeholder for the ERP system implementation, leading the business through adoption and driving process consistency and data integrity. Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and service quality. Client & Business Management Act as the senior operational contact for clients and industrial partners, maintaining strong relationships while proactively identifying opportunities to win more work, improve service levels, and increase share of wallet with existing customers. Ensure full compliance with contractual obligations while identifying opportunities to exceed client expectations. Collaborate with the business development team to support proposals, bids, and growth initiatives with operational insight. Conduct regular site audits and client reviews to ensure service standards and compliance are consistently met. Health, Safety & Compliance Ensure all operations comply with applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations (WHMIS, OSHA/CCOHS). Champion a proactive safety culture, including incident prevention, reporting, and continuous training. Maintain strict adherence to company policies and regulatory standards across all operational activities Present financial results including but not limited to P&L, balance sheet and cash flows, with perspectives on performance relative to targets, and supporting operational metrics Oversee operational budgets, labor costs, equipment utilization, and inventory management. Optimize workforce planning, dispatch, scheduling, overtime, and crew productivity to balance service demand, customer responsiveness, employee engagement, and cost control. Forecast staffing, equipment, and material requirements to support current operations and future growth. Leadership & Talent Development Lead with clarity, purpose and drive while providing an exciting growth path for the management team members. Recruit, mentor, and develop supervisors, operational leaders, and field personnel so the business has a stronger bench, clearer accountability, and more consistent execution across crews and shifts. Conduct performance evaluations and implement development programs to strengthen team capabilities. Foster a collaborative, high‑performance culture focused on accountability, engagement, and continuous learning. Develop career arcs for key management team members. Strategic Planning & Growth Contribute to organizational strategy and ensure operational alignment with business objectives. Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement, innovation, and operational scalability. Lead expansion into new markets, service offerings, and industrial sectors. What Success Looks Like The General Manager’s mandate is to lead Jet Blast through its next phase of growth and maturity by delivering profitable, sustainable growth while maintaining the highest standards of people leadership, safety, operational excellence, service quality, and environmental responsibility. Within the first year, success means the General Manager has built credibility with the team, increased the pace of execution, successfully implemented and adopted an ERP system, improved visibility into job‑level performance, strengthened scheduling and labor discipline, raised equipment utilization, deepened relationships with key customers, and created a clearer operating rhythm for supervisors and managers. Your Profile Post‑secondary education in business administration, operations management, engineering, industrial technology, or a related field is preferred; equivalent hands‑on operating leadership experience will also be considered. 5‑10 years of experience in operational management. Experience in industrial services, environmental services, construction services, field services, logistics, equipment‑intensive operations, or another labor‑intensive operating environment is strongly preferred. Experience leading supervisors and frontline teams in a field‑based, labor‑intensive environment. Good knowledge of finance, Excel, and other Microsoft tools. Excellent communication and people management skills. Ability to analyze data, manage budgets, and make informed decisions.
