Medical Science Liaison - Gastroenterology - West

Job Title Medical Science Liaison – Gastroenterology Location Cambridge, MA (Territory: Northern California, Nevada, Oregon, Idaho, Washington, and Montana) Overview Sanofi’s Medical Science Liaison (MSL) team partners with external experts and decision makers to accelerate the dissemination of scientific data and accelerate medical innovation in gastroenterology. The role is field‑facing and involves frequent scientific exchanges with key stakeholders across the therapeutic area. Key Responsibilities Establish and maintain long‑term relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and other stakeholder partners. Conduct one‑on‑one and group engagements to share approved scientific information and answer questions within regulatory guidelines. Execute stakeholder engagement plans, track interactions, and ensure consistent engagement frequency per stakeholder per year. Gather data and insights from stakeholder interactions, record and report them using approved tools and mechanisms. Support evidence‑generation activities, including identifying opportunities for clinical or investigator‑led studies and reviewing emerging evidence. Maintain effective communication with internal stakeholders (Medical Affairs, Medical Information, Commercial Operations, Regulatory, Business Development) while ensuring full compliance with company and regulatory requirements. Plan and attend relevant scientific congresses, symposia, educational meetings, and local scientific advisory boards as directed. Assist in data acquisition and protocol development for long‑term surveillance, pharmacovigilance, and effectiveness studies. Respond to unsolicited requests for medical information related to supported products and disease states. Qualifications Advanced degree in a technical, scientific or medical field (MD, PhD, PharmD). Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to pass a background check. Minimum of 2 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry in a Medical Science Liaison role or relevant clinical practice. Demonstrated experience in gastroenterology, immunology, or related clinical environments preferred. Knowledge of medical practice, clinical decision making, and healthcare systems. Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to present complex scientific data to a variety of audiences. Skills & Knowledge Active listening and diplomacy while asserting expert opinion. Proficiency in digital tools and the ability to plan, prioritize, and execute multiple responsibilities. Deep understanding of local regulations governing non‑promotional activities for the pharmaceutical industry. Ability to interpret scientific data and translate it into actionable insights for medical and commercial teams. Experience working on multidisciplinary teams and managing significant volumes of projects. Travel & Territory Must reside in the Northwest territory (Northern California, Nevada, Oregon, Idaho, Washington, Montana) or be willing to relocate at own cost. Significant national and international travel is required. Compensation & Benefits Salary Range: $146,250.00 – $211,250.00 (determined with experience) Eligible to participate in company employee benefit programs.
