Clinical Social Worker (40 Hour)

Introduction The State of Connecticut Department of Correction seeks a Clinical Social Worker to work at the Carl Robinson Correctional Institution in Enfield, CT. Position Details Full‑time, 40hours per week, first shift Monday‑Friday 7:00am‑3:00pm with rotating weekend and holiday shifts. Responsibilities Provide intake assessments, individual psychotherapy, group therapy, crisis management, suicide risk assessment, and case‑management services. Engage in collaborative discharge planning with external support services and research‑driven programming. Perform other clinical activities as needed. Team and Setting Work within a multidisciplinary team that includes social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, APRNs, medical personnel, and custody staff to deliver high‑quality, service‑oriented care in a medium‑security facility focused on programming and education. License Verification Verify current LCSW credentials and expiration date through the State of Connecticut E‑License portal at the time of application. About the Facility The Carl Robinson Correctional Institution is a Level3 medium‑security facility housing sentenced offenders. It emphasizes education and programming, including intensive in‑patient substance abuse treatment and vocational options such as culinary arts, machine tooling, small engine repair, and community college courses. Job Duties Develop psychosocial assessments through clinical interviews with clients and families. Create treatment plans with measurable objectives. Conduct triage, crisis intervention, and individual, group, or family therapy. Advocate for and coordinate social and clinical services to meet client needs. Monitor and evaluate treatment plan effectiveness and document outcomes. Complete required reports and maintain clinical records. Provide supervision to Licensed Master Social Workers. Consult and collaborate with other behavioral health providers. Conduct forensic evaluations and provide court testimony as required. Maintain social work treatment standards and participate in research projects when indicated. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Proficiency in social work methodology, group work, community mobilization, and family dynamics. Understanding of social, cultural, economic, medical, psychological, and legal issues affecting clients. Knowledge of mental illnesses and current treatment approaches. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication abilities. Ability to design and implement measurable treatment plans for diverse client needs. Competence in applying psychiatric treatment modalities. Minimum Qualifications Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Connecticut, with an up‑to‑date license. Preferred Qualifications Experience in correctional or forensic behavioral health treatment. Experience with crisis intervention and behavior management. Experience in individual and group psychotherapy. Experience working with criminal‑justice involved adults. Special Requirements Maintain eligibility for federal health‑care programs as defined in 42 U.S. Code § 1320a‑7b(f). Possibly require knowledge of sign language for communication with the deaf and hearing impaired. Possibly require proficiency in Spanish (oral and written) for certain positions. May be required to travel.
