Role Description The Police Officer is a full-time, on‑site role based in the San Antonio, Texas Metropolitan Area, serving Northside ISD campuses and facilities. This role involves patrolling school grounds, monitoring entrances and common areas, and responding to calls to maintain a safe and secure learning environment. The Police Officer will investigate incidents, enforce applicable laws and district policies, prepare detailed reports, and collaborate with school administrators and staff regarding safety concerns. Daily responsibilities also include engaging positively with students, families, and community members, providing guidance on safety practices, and supporting campus activities and events as needed. The Officer is expected to maintain professional conduct, use sound judgment in high‑pressure situations, and participate in ongoing training related to school safety and law enforcement best practices. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong skills in observation, situational awareness, and decision‑making under pressure. Candidates should possess effective communication skills, including clear verbal and written communication and the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and families. Candidates should possess skills in conflict resolution, de‑escalation techniques, and problem‑solving in diverse and dynamic school settings. Candidates should possess the ability to collaborate with school administrators, educators, and other law enforcement agencies to support coordinated safety efforts. Candidates should possess a commitment to ethical conduct, respect for individual rights, and fair, unbiased treatment of all members of the school community. Candidates should possess physical fitness and the ability to perform essential job functions, including patrolling, responding quickly to incidents, and standing for extended periods. Candidates should possess proficiency in basic report writing, incident documentation, and use of relevant technology and communication systems. Candidates should possess a valid peace officer license or certification in the State of Texas, or meet eligibility requirements to obtain one. Candidates should possess a high school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in criminal justice, law enforcement, or related fields is beneficial.
