STUDENT ASSISTANT EMPLOYEE JOB DESCRIPTION JOB DESCRIPTION Under the supervision of the Facility Operations Coordinator and operational guidance of the Student Operations Assistant and Student Building Manager, the Student Operations Services Assistant is responsible for performing a variety of duties related to facility setup, cleanliness, equipment oversight, and activity space monitoring to help maintain a safe and welcoming environment at the University Student Union (USU) Student Recreation Center (SRC). JOB DUTIES
• Sets up rooms and activity spaces, including but not limited to moving furniture, arranging audiovisual and recreational equipment, and assisting with last-minute setup changes as needed
• Maintains a clean and organized recreation facility through trash removal and spot cleaning of furniture and equipment Performs laundry services by collecting, washing, and organizing towels
• Identifies maintenance concerns and submits work orders for repairs
• Assists with the preparation of various building reports
• Monitors activity spaces and maintains equipment and court waiting lists
• Responds appropriately to a variety of emergency situations, including but not limited to medical emergencies and civil disturbances, and coordinates and/or executes emergency procedures as needed
• Performs other related duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION
• Must be a currently enrolled CSUN student EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS
• Previous related experience and/or specialized education not required
• American Red Cross or department approved First Aid, CPR, and AED certification shall be obtained within 30 days. Training is periodically offered free of charge by the USU. Applicants unable to attend USU-sponsored training are required to obtain certification at their own expense OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• Must be available to work a minimum of 10/hours/week based on the operational needs and working hours of the department
• Must be able to attend mandatory in-person SRC and USU employee orientation and trainings
• Must be able to attend monthly mandatory in-person staff meetings
• The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

SUPERVISION Under the supervision of the Facility Operations Coordinator and operational guidance of the Student Operations Assistant and Student Building Manager TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS Work is primarily performed in a temperature-controlled office environment. Work is occasionally performed outdoors, in different climactic conditions. Daily contact with members of the campus community, including students, faculty, staff, administrators and guests, is required. In addition to regularly assigned work schedule, must possess an ability and willingness to work weekends, evenings, holidays, finals weeks, and during academic interim and break periods; must be flexible, adaptable, and readily able to adjust to changes in work environment. PHYSICAL ABILITIES The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the Student Operations Services Assistant. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to climb or balance and occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally sit for extended periods and regularly walk around building; talk and hear; be able to detect smoke, heat and subtle smells. The employee must frequently move 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (if applicable). Specific vision abilities required but this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
