Staff Accountant

Responsibilities Kforce has a client that is seeking a Staff Accountant in Newton, MA. Summary: We are seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to support general ledger accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close activities. This role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, the ability to work independently, and experience supporting multi-entity organizations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable managing complex accounting tasks in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and post journal entries for general ledger accounts Perform monthly account and balance sheet reconciliations across multiple entities Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial data Support external and internal audit requests, including preparation of schedules and documentation Assist with variance analysis, comparing actuals to budget and forecast Maintain fixed asset schedules and support depreciation and capital expenditure tracking Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve accounting issues and support reporting needs Mentor and review the work of staff accountants as needed Support process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and accuracy Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience Experience with general ledger accounting, journal entries, and reconciliations Experience supporting month-end and year-end close processes Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP) Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities Preferred Qualifications CPA or CPA candidate preferred Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, or similar) Experience supporting multi-entity or international organizations Public accounting experience a plus Key Skills General Ledger Accounting Financial Reporting Journal Entries Account Reconciliations Month-End/Year-End Close Variance Analysis Fixed Assets Audit Support ERP Systems Microsoft Excel GAAP Cross-Functional Collaboration The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law.
