Actionplay: Assistant Music Director for a Disability-Inclusive Choir Description Actionplay, a neuroinclusive theatre nonprofit, is looking for an Assistant Choir Director. In the Actionplay Voices Choir, autistic, neurodivergent, and disabled singers, ages 15+, work on performing songs they want to sing as an ensemble, performing publicly 2-5 times throughout the year. The Assistant Choir Director will help facilitate rehearsals for the Voices Choir, working one-on-one with individual ensemble members to support and accommodate them, while also offering any assistance necessary to the Music Director to make sure rehearsals run smoothly. Composed of amateur and professional neurodivergent and disabled singers, The Actionplay Voices Choir performs pop and theatre hits of the past and present with harmony and gusto. The Voices Choir has performed with “Weird Al” Yankovic, Cynthia Erivo, and Keegan-Michael Key on Night of Too Many Stars. The Choir has also sung with the Greenwich Village Orchestra, at Lincoln Center, at Adelphi University, and at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music. Requirements Accompanist with strong sight-reading skills Experience in vocal music and choir performance Able to run rehearsals in the absence of the Music Director Available for Sunday rehearsals, 1:30-3:30pm Preferred qualifications Lived experience with the autistic / neurodivergent / disabled community Classroom management skills – able to assist individuals while keeping rehearsals moving Experience teaching singing, particularly to beginner vocalists Licensed music therapist Experience working with high schoolers and college-aged adults Duration Sep 13, 2026 - Salary $100.00 – $100.00 per day
