Mortgage Loan Officer

Position: Mortgage Loan Officer Location: Belvidere, IL Job Id: 4607 # of Openings: 1 Responsible for producing a high volume of good quality consumer and real estate loans. Also responsible for ordering credit reports, analyzing data, approving or denying credit requests and collecting delinquent loans. Responsibilities Conduct interviews with prospective borrowers to analyze financial and credit data, determine customer financing objectives, advise customers of product and pricing policies, and gather any additional required information. Provide detailed follow‑up with borrowers and meet with applicants as necessary during various stages of the loan process. Work closely with mortgage processors and branch staff to ensure customer satisfaction and trust in the bank. Establish and maintain relationships with branch personnel, realtors, builders and developers as lending sources for referrals. Have an understanding of all First Mid products and services and a strong commitment to cross‑sell those products and services in a professional manner. Conduct loan closings, ensuring all documents are signed and all underwriting conditions are met, and taking all necessary steps to perfect the bank’s lien position. Disburse funds on construction and home‑improvement loans in accordance with bank guidelines. Manage and oversee individual loan portfolio and maintain asset quality. Develop and maintain the existing customer base, building customer satisfaction and confidence in the bank. Register as a Mortgage Loan Originator in compliance with the SAFE Act. Complete required training associated with the job function. Perform all other duties as assigned. MLOs are expected to be accessible to clients and referral partners outside of standard business hours, including evenings and weekends, as necessary. Qualifications Education/Experience Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration (preferred), or advanced training equivalent to two or more years in a financial institution or loan setting. Skills Good understanding and knowledge of company products and services. Strong cross‑selling, management, and organizational skills. High level of interpersonal skills to interact with customers and potential customers in a professional manner. Adequate knowledge of internal policies and procedures, and the state and federal laws and regulations governing departmental functions, ensuring performance of individual job duties within the proper control environment.
