Counter Sales Representative – HVAC DistributionLHH Recruiting seeking a dependable, customer-focused Counter Sales Representative on a contract to hire basis to support customers at our client's busy HVAC distribution location in Phoenix, AZ. This position works primarily at a walk-up counter, assisting contractors and commercial customers who are picking up HVAC equipment, parts, and previously placed orders.The ideal candidate has strong customer service skills, is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and can accurately handle customer orders, invoices, and basic administrative responsibilities. Previous HVAC experience is preferred but not required. Candidates with experience in counter sales, distribution, construction supplies, plumbing, electrical, building materials, or similar environments are encouraged to apply.Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer Service & Counter SalesGreet customers arriving at the counter and provide prompt, professional service.Assist customers who are picking up previously placed HVAC equipment and product orders.Verify customer and order information to ensure accurate fulfillment.Process customer orders accurately and efficiently.Locate and coordinate the preparation of products for customer pickup.Generate invoices, receipts, and other sales documentation.Process cash and other customer transactions when required.Answer basic questions regarding orders, product availability, and pickup status.Build positive working relationships with contractors, commercial customers, and repeat accounts.Provide a professional and welcoming customer experience throughout the order pickup process.Order Processing & Administrative SupportEnter and update customer orders within company systems.Maintain accurate customer, order, invoice, and inventory documentation.Assist the Warehouse Manager with administrative and operational tasks as needed.Learn and utilize company software for order entry, inventory, invoicing, and customer management.Communicate with warehouse personnel and sales representatives to resolve order questions or discrepancies.Help coordinate customer pickups and order readiness.Maintain an organized and professional front-counter area.Team & Branch SupportWork closely with warehouse personnel, sales representatives, and Branch leadership to provide efficient customer service.Provide backup counter and administrative support during high-volume periods.Assist with light product retrieval when appropriate and permitted.Communicate customer needs and order issues to the appropriate internal team members.Contribute to smooth day-to-day Branch operations and overall customer satisfaction.Customer Relationship & Sales DevelopmentDevelop relationships with contractors and other repeat customers.Identify opportunities to provide additional products or services based on customer needs.Support upselling and account-development efforts as product knowledge grows.Help develop smaller or occasional customers into ongoing business relationships.Learn HVAC products, equipment, parts, and industry terminology over time.QualificationsRequiredHigh school diploma or equivalent.Previous customer service, retail, counter service, or other customer-facing experience.Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn new software systems.Strong attention to detail when processing orders and transactions.Ability to stay organized and manage multiple customer requests in a fast-paced setting.Professional demeanor with a customer-first approach.
