Orthopedic Physical Therapist

Role: The Physical Therapist provides medically prescribed therapy to alleviate pain, improve function, and prevent disability following illness, injury, or amputation. Key Duties: Conducts initial and ongoing patient evaluations, develops individualized treatment plans utilizing exercises, manual therapy, heat, water, light, and electrical modalities, and directs patients in active/passive exercises, muscle re-education, and gait training. Operates equipment such as ultrasound, diathermy, and low/high volt generators, and applies treatments like whirlpools, contrast baths, and heat packs. Advises on the use and care of assistive devices and orthotics, provides patient instructions for post-therapy care, and documents patient progress for team review. May supervise assistants and conduct training for students, staff, or volunteers. Qualifications: Education: Doctorate of Physical Therapy (required after 2015) or equivalent; a high school diploma is minimum. Experience: Varies; specific years and types of experience are preferred but not always required. Certifications & Licenses: Licensed Physical Therapist, Basic Life Support (BLS), Pelvic Health certification (preferred), and other relevant licensure as required. Certifications must be obtained within 90 days if not already held. Skills & Requirements: Strong knowledge of physical therapy techniques, ability to perform diagnostic/prognostic tests, proficiency with therapeutic equipment, and excellent patient communication skills.
