Accounting Manager

Our client is a growing and highly tax and accounting advisory firm serving closely held businesses and high-net-worth individuals throughout Southern California. Due to continued growth, the firm is adding a newly created Accounting Manager role to help lead and scale its expanding client accounting services practice. Position Overview The Accounting Services Manager will lead and develop the accounting services team while overseeing workflow, production, and client deliverables. This individual will ensure the accuracy and quality of financial reporting, drive operational efficiencies, and build scalable processes to support future growth. The role offers significant visibility and the opportunity to influence both firm operations and long-term strategy. Key Responsibilities Lead, mentor, and retain a high-performing accounting services team. Review monthly and quarterly financial statements, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to accounting standards. Oversee the month-end and year-end close process across multiple client engagements, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. Provide technical accounting guidance to team members on complex accounting matters and client-specific issues. Analyze financial statements, KPIs, and operational metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and communicate actionable insights to clients. Manage and review general ledger activity, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and cash management processes for client accounts. Oversee bookkeeping functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, and bill pay services for clients. Partner directly with business owners and leadership teams to provide outsourced controller-level support, financial guidance, and strategic recommendations. Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field. CPA strongly preferred. 5+ years of accounting experience, including leadership experience managing and developing teams. Strong background in bookkeeping, financial statement preparation, and client accounting services. Experience managing multiple client engagements or businesses with multiple entities and competing deadlines simultaneously. Proven experience designing and implementing scalable processes and workflows. Advanced proficiency with QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel. Strong communication, leadership, and client relationship management skills. Preferred: Experience managing budgets, engagement profitability, and production economics. Strong analytical and financial reporting skills. Experience with not-for-profit and/or construction industry clients.
