- Independently conduct complex 3D and 2D magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans of the head, spine, extremities, and body, ensuring precise image acquisition for diagnostic purposes.
- Receive and instruct patients by explaining procedures, methods, safety precautions, and risks, position them accurately, start intravenous lines (IV) as needed, and produce required images for examinations.
- Identify and correct image artifacts to enhance quality, collaborate with radiologists to tailor imaging protocols for both standard and complex cases, and promptly notify physicians of significant findings during exams.
- Administer emergency medications under physician guidance and manage emergency equipment such as defibrillators, oxygen, and suction devices.
- Retrieve and present images to radiologists and referring physicians to support accurate diagnosis and patient care.
- Assist in the triage of scheduling patients.
- Train other staff in performing magnetic resonance imaging procedures.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position requires screening for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity regardless of job series. This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination unless exempted by professional medical personnel or for administrative reasons.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- This position is required to work uncommon tours of duty hours such as, on-call, working either fixed or rotating shifts, evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
- Incumbent must possess and maintain a valid American Registry of Radiological Technologist (ARRT) (MRI) certification.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
- This position requires a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest. In making this determination, the agency may consider your performance and conduct; agency needs and interests; whether your continued employment supports organizational or Government goals; and whether it promotes the efficiency of the Federal service. Continued employment requires written certification that it advances the public interest.
