Finance Manager

The Finance Manager is a key partner to the Chief Financial Officer, helping to safeguard the financial health and stewardship of The Catholic Foundation of Northern Colorado. In this role, you will assist with the monthly close process, help maintain a reliable general ledger, provide clear, timely financial reports, and review grants-related financial activity, while also supporting select risk management, IT, and HR compliance functions in collaboration with internal leaders and trusted external partners. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Includes the following; other duties may be assigned to meet business needs: Support the monthly financial close process, including reconciliations, journal entries, general ledger review, and maintenance of accurate financial records and fund balances. Prepare recurring and ad hoc financial reports and analyses, including statements of activity, statements of financial position, and fund reports. Oversee accounting, grants management, planned giving, and donor portal systems, and assist in the review of key transactions involving accounts payable, donor gifts, grant disbursements, and employee expense reports. Supervise the Staff Accountant and Grants Manager, including work allocation, performance monitoring, and day-to-day coaching and support. Assist with annual audit preparation, Form 990 support, annual budget development, and other core finance-related initiatives. Coordinate selected administrative and compliance functions, including benefits administration, staff onboarding and offboarding, handbook and job description updates, IT vendor liaison activities, and other operational support as needed. Knowledge and Skills Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting practices. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Experience with Blackbaud accounting and CRM systems preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; SharePoint experience preferred. Charitable Grant experience a plus. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion. Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and collaborate effectively across departments. Proactive, resourceful, and solutions-oriented approach to work. Fluency in English required; Spanish fluency is a plus but not required. Practicing Catholic preferred for this role to support and reflect the Foundation's Catholic mission and values, consistent with applicable legal exemptions. Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. CPA designation preferred. Five or more years of relevant experience in an accounting or finance role. Nonprofit fund accounting experience preferred. Experience working in a nonprofit environment preferred. Compensation The salary range for this exempt position is $100,000 to $125,000. The position may also be eligible for additional discretionary incentive compensation based on individual performance and experience. Compensation will be determined based on factors including education, experience, skills, and alignment with the requirements of the role.
