Senior Facilities Project Manager

Department or Site The Project Services Teams are geographically divided by North, Central, and South. Responsibilities Providing management and direction to several project teams responsible for single‑discipline and small multi‑discipline construction projects. Performing site walks to verify project progress and monitor construction activities for compliance with contract documents and safety standards. Reviewing and resolving construction project related issues, disputes, and disagreements. Overseeing and evaluating the performance of project staff assigned to construction projects. Reviewing and evaluating status and overall construction project progress to ensure delivery within approved timelines. Assisting facilities management staff with bid and contract planning. Assessing bid specifications for appropriateness and probability of completion under stated timeline. Reviewing all change orders for assigned construction projects and assessing any impact on project outcome. Reviewing and verifying applications for payment and performing overall fiscal management of multiple construction projects. Coordinating project team activities with other District branches and departments (Office of Environmental Health and Safety, Design and A/E Technical Support, Facilities Contract Administration, Inspection Unit, Maintenance and Operations Areas, and Regional Offices). Assisting in developing and recommending internal policies and procedures. Maintaining, reviewing, and updating project data and metrics within maintenance and operations reporting systems. Providing written and oral reports to higher‑level administrators regarding project status relating to scope, schedule, and budgets. Assigning staff and projects. Planning, directing, reviewing, and participating in construction management training for staff. Assisting in developing or reviewing personnel management policies and procedures within the organization and ensuring personnel programs and transactions conform to regulations and District policies. Providing constructability review of construction contract documents such as architectural, engineering, utility, and shop drawings and specifications. Minimum Requirements Education: Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, business administration, or a related field. A valid Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential issued by the Construction Manager Certification Institute (CMCI) may substitute for the required education. Experience: Six years of experience as a project manager in the planning, design, modernization, and construction of facilities, including at least two years at the level of an assistant project manager or higher. Experience with educational facilities is preferred. Special Physical Requirement: Ability to climb ladders, walk on roofs, and move safely in partially completed buildings and crawl spaces. Desirable Qualifications Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with District personnel, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders while ensuring compliance with District policies, procedures, and construction management standards. Proven judgment in managing multiple projects simultaneously, balancing attention to detail with the delegation of responsibilities and providing oversight and guidance to project management staff. Substantial knowledge of applicable building codes and regulatory requirements, especially regarding approval and compliance with agencies such as the Division of the State Architect.
