Facilities Project Manager

About the Role The University of Southern California (USC) Facilities Planning and Management (FPM) seeks a Facilities Project Manager to oversee HVAC, energy, and utility expansion projects. The role provides leadership for day‑to‑day project operations, including scope, budget, schedule, design management, construction management, and project turnover. Job Accountabilities (Responsibilities) Ensure projects comply with university standards, specifications, and local requirements. Provide construction‑phase support: review submittals, documents, and conduct field observations. Manage and negotiate consultant services; monitor and evaluate consultant performance. Conduct quality assurance reviews to assure work meets required standards. Develop budgets and timetables; authorize construction budget expenditures and monitor account reconciliation. Prepare forecasts, projections, and financial or other reports as requested. Direct purchasing activities, including authorization of construction services. Resolve issues and problems and provide leadership and guidance to staff, student workers, or contractors. Preferred Qualifications Experience in project administration with progressive leadership/management within a college or university environment. Strong written and oral communication skills. At least 7 years of experience as a design manager and/or construction manager. Demonstrated interpersonal skills and effective communication. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in architecture, civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering (substitutions provided for experience). Minimum 3 years of experience as a design manager and/or construction manager (substitutions provided for experience). Directly related education and project management experience with increasing leadership/management responsibility in electrical, mechanical, or plumbing systems.
