Shift Lead

Job Summary The Veterinary Hospital Shift Lead (“Shift Lead”) provides exceptional client and pet experiences while assisting the Practice Manager and/or Chief of Staff (COS) in guiding the team to maximize productivity and profitability of the hospital. The Shift Lead also performs the duties of a Client Services Coordinator and Veterinary Assistant when needed. The position supports the culture and brand of the hospital, ensuring effective communication with all clients, internal stakeholders, and colleagues. Responsibilities Lead day-to-day supervision of the team, ensuring quality medical care, exceptional client service, associate engagement, and maximum productivity. Provide professional, efficient, and exceptional client service by example, including client education about Optimum Wellness Plans, preventive care, pet health needs, hospital services, marketing campaigns, and other related information; effectively resolve client issues. Assist in scheduling associates to meet client needs, proactively plan time off and CE scheduling. Ensure compliance with all practice policies and procedures and adherence to Banfield dress and grooming guidelines. Perform other job duties as assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma preferred; must be 18 years of age or older. Minimum of two years of veterinary hospital experience. Ability to work at a computer for long periods; confident around pets (dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, etc.). Must work special hours including weekends and evening shifts. Strong reasoning, memory, mathematics and language ability (reading, writing, speaking English). Comfortable working in an environment with moderate to high noise and strong smells. Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and lift or carry up to 50 pounds. Good hand‑eye coordination, arm‑hand‑finger dexterity, and visual acuity for keyboard and equipment use. Exposure to veterinary patients, anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, controlled substances, and potential bites or scratches may occur.
