Responsibilities
- Provide planning and direct nursing care to patients in the step-down unit (PCU/SDU), including ongoing assessment and care planning.
- Accurately interpret ECG rhythms and manage care during life-threatening emergencies in the patient population served.
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders; monitor effectiveness and adverse effects.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to ancillary personnel (e.g., CNAs) within their scope of practice; collaborate with the interdisciplinary team.
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and responses; maintain accurate, compliant records.
- Educate patients and families as appropriate and ensure safe transition planning and discharge readiness when applicable.

Requirements
- Active, current RN license in California
- BLS certification required (for healthcare providers)
- Experience in step-down unit or progressive care/PCU settings; clinical proficiency in monitoring and responding to ECG changes
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN acceptable)
- Ability to work night shifts in a hospital setting and participate in a 12-hour shift schedule
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and supervise ancillary staff within scope of practice
