Postdoctoral Fellow - GI Medical Oncology - Research
$64k - $76kMD Anderson
The Department of Gastrointestinal (GI) Medical Oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a highly motivated physician-scientist to join its GI Oncology Research Program as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. This two-year, research-focused fellowship provides comprehensive training in clinical and translational cancer research, with a primary focus on biliary tract cancers (including cholangiocarcinoma) and pancreatic malignancies. The fellowship is co-led by Dr. Milind Javle and Dr. Shubham Pant, internationally recognized leaders in gastrointestinal oncology research. The program is designed to provide fellows with rigorous academic research training and mentorship, preparing them for successful careers in academic medicine and oncology research. During the fellowship, the selected candidate will gain hands-on experience in all aspects of oncology research, including the design and execution of retrospective and prospective clinical studies, clinical trial development, protocol writing, regulatory submissions, translational research initiatives, biomarker discovery, and laboratory-based research exposure. Fellows will also receive formal mentorship in scientific writing, manuscript preparation, grant development, and research funding strategies. The program offers opportunities to present research findings at national and international scientific meetings and to contribute to peer-reviewed publications. Through close collaboration with faculty investigators, fellows will develop the skills necessary to conduct independent research and build a strong academic portfolio. This fellowship is specifically structured as a launching point for physicians seeking careers in academic gastrointestinal oncology, particularly those who may have had limited opportunities for dedicated research training during prior medical or residency education. Program Highlights - Two-year dedicated research fellowship
- Training in clinical and translational oncology research
- Clinical trial design, protocol development, and regulatory processes
- Biomarker discovery and translational research experience
- Scientific manuscript and grant writing mentorship
