The Department of Leukemia Research is seeking qualified applicants to fill a postdoctoral position in the field of Hematopoiesis/Leukemogenesis in the laboratory of Dr. Guillermo Garcia-Manero, MD. The focus is on defining the role of telomere dysfunction in the pathogenesis of myelodysplastic syndromes and aging-related diseases. Our experimental systems include both genetic mouse models and primary leukemia stem and progenitor cells from MDS patients
The postdoctoral fellow will learn to various components and areas of translational research. The candidate is expected to independently plan, design, and conduct research, analyze the date, and present the data in meetings, conferences, or in published form. The candidate will learn how to navigate different areas of translational research, execute, and complete a research project in the most effective and efficient way. They will develop the ability to perform experiments and drive projects independently and productively.
Working closely with the PI and other lab members as a team, they will learn to write and submit manuscripts, write fellowship, and grant applications, and publish high-profile papers. The candidate should also have a strong work ethic and be collaborative, collegial, flexible, and willing to contribute to a supportive and productive laboratory environment. All duties and responsibilities are carried out in compliance with institutional policies, ethical research standards, and applicable federal and state regulations. LEARNING OBJECTIVES
* To develop skills and competencies and apply cutting edge research technology to the study of hematopoietic stem cell biology, erythropoeisis, and leukemogenesis.
* To develop the necessary skills and competencies to conduct correlative studies of clinical trials and translate laboratory findings to clinical applications. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
* A PhD/M.D. in a related research field.
* A strong background in molecular biology, flow cytometry, and multiomic technologies is required.
* Experience in hematopoietic stem cells and animal models is essential. POSITION INFORMATION
MD Anderson offers full-time postdoc positions with a salary ranging from $64,000 to $76,000 . depending on the number of years of postgraduate experience.
