Staff AccountantLocation: Madison, WI (Onsite) Salary: $65,000–$70,000/year Schedule: Monday–Friday | 9:00 AM–5:00 PM Hire Type: Direct HireThe OpportunityWe are seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join a well-established professional organization. This role is ideal for someone who is confident managing day-to-day accounting functions but also enjoys finding ways to make processes better.We're looking for someone who can say, "I saw an opportunity for improvement, took initiative, and made a positive difference." Whether you've improved an SOP, created a more efficient workflow, or developed a better system, we want to hear about it!What You'll DoPrepare and maintain accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAPManage accounts payable and accounts receivableComplete journal entries and maintain the general ledgerPerform bank and balance sheet reconciliationsAssist with budgets, forecasts, and financial analysisPrepare and interpret financial reportsSupport audits and regulatory reportingAssist with payroll-related accounting as neededIdentify opportunities to improve accounting processes, SOPs, and internal systemsWhat We're Looking For- 3+ years of accounting experience - QuickBooks Desktop proficiency — required - Strong Microsoft Excel skills - Knowledge of GAAP and accrual accounting - Experience with general ledger accounting and reconciliations - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - A track record of improving processes or creating efficienciesExperience in nonprofit, corporate, public, or governmental accounting is a plus.What Will Make You Stand Out?We're especially interested in candidates who can share a specific example of how they made a positive impact at a previous organization, such as:Improving or developing an SOPCreating a more efficient system or workflowStreamlining an accounting processImproving reporting accuracy or timelinessSolving a recurring problem through a new processReady to bring your accounting expertise and ideas to a role where you can make an impact?
