Medical Lab Scientist III

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Lab Scientist III to join our team. This role involves performing a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to ensure the delivery of quality patient care. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in clinical laboratory testing and the ability to troubleshoot and solve technical problems.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental standard operating procedures.
• Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
• 5-7 years of clinical laboratory testing experience.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Proficient with computers.
• High level of attention to detail.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• State medical technologist license may be required.
• ASCP or AMT certification preferred or required.
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus.
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.

Work Environment

The role involves working in a laboratory setting where the use of personal protective equipment is necessary to maintain safety. The position may require flexibility in working hours, including overtime or different shifts based on business needs.

Job Type & Location

This is a contract position based out of Jacksonville, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
