FinCrime Operations Senior Analyst - AUP

Responsibilities Investigation and Analysis: Conduct thorough reviews and investigations of customer and payment activity, including their use of Wise products, to determine if behavior aligns with expected patterns or portrays higher-risk flags. Apply an understanding of Wise's compliance framework, the regulatory environment, and ongoing financial crime trends. Alert handling: Accurately discount or escalate alerts, focusing on whether potential suspicious activity related to financial crime is present. Document findings, decision rationale and steps taken, adhering to established procedures and best practices. Due Diligence: Perform meticulous due diligence on customers and businesses using public and internal data sources to understand customer payment behavior and financial activity with a risk-based approach. Risk Assessment: Analyze and evaluate risk factors associated with customer profiles and transactions; document risk assessments clearly. Transaction Monitoring: Review customer transaction history to identify unusual patterns or suspicious activities, digest large volumes of data, and determine whether to discount alerts or confirm suspicions. Escalation: Review internal escalations and escalate suspicious activities to appropriate teams as warranted, including very high-profile issues to senior roles or functions. Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of reviews, investigations, decisions, and customer interactions with data privacy and internal policies in mind. Compliance Guidelines: Stay up-to-date with KYC/AML/due diligence/fraud regulations and internal policies; ensure activities adhere to external and internal obligations. Risk Management and Escalation: Escalate critical incidents or high-risk customers to leadership in a timely manner and flag new financial crime typologies or systemic weaknesses. Process Improvement: Contribute to improving FinCrime operations processes and tooling; escalate issues and propose actionable enhancements. Team Collaboration: Work with senior analysts and other team members to support the FinCrime operations function and share information across teams. Trainings: Complete mandatory and refresher trainings on time. Customer Communication: Communicate clearly and professionally with customers to obtain necessary details for reviews, upholding high customer experience standards. KPIs: Proactively achieve individual and team targets (KPIs, SLAs, QA) with focus on quality and speed. Other: Perform additional tasks as assigned by the lead and participate in meetings and internal events. Qualifications Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus. 1-2 years of experience in operations, compliance, or a related field, preferably with exposure to financial crime, KYC/AML, or fraud prevention. Basic understanding of global financial crime regulations, best practices and applicable standards. Ability to work independently and make decisions within well-defined procedures. Proven capacity to maintain high quality and accuracy with strict adherence to processes. Excellent documentation skills with clear, concise reporting for internal and external use. Strong organizational skills; ability to multitask and manage time effectively. Ability to follow established procedures consistently, especially for routine tasks. Willingness to work flexible hours, including shifts, weekends, and public holidays as needed. Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn in the financial crime domain. Ability to work autonomously and take initiative within established frameworks. Nice To Have Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Law, Analytics, Audit or related field. Certifications: ICA, CAMS, or equivalent certifications (EDD/AML/fraud/risk and control management). Finance/accounting background is a plus. Familiarity with BI tools such as Looker.
