Job Title: Registered Nurse - MedSurg/Tele Profession: RN Specialty: MedSurg/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours (1900-0700) Experience: Minimum 18 months Med/Tele RN experience preferred License: Active RN license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: General Med/Tele skill set including: - Stroke experience - Cardiac rhythm interpretation - Tracheostomy care - Peripheral IV starts - Chest tube management - NGT placement - Drain/tube management (e.g., Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, Foley insertion/management) - PCA pump management - Medication management including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IV fluids Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in MedSurg and Telemetry. The unit includes beds that may vary. Patient types include those with end-stage renal disease, peritoneal dialysis, fluid overload, sickle cell disease, diabetes mellitus, altered mental status, cellulitis, diabetic ulcers, pancreatitis, and behavioral health concerns. Patient ratios are typically 1:5-6, with a maximum of 1:7-8 in case of critical surges. Assistance will be available from CNAs, receptionists, and charge nurses who may or may not have patient assignments. Phlebotomy and peripheral blood draws will be handled as needed. Resource nurse and intensivist support will be available as staffing allows. Traveling may be required between facilities within the designated region and scope of practice. Scheduling will entail a weekend rotation, approximately every other weekend, and holiday expectations will require working 75% of holidays. Requests for time off will be considered up to six days, excluding holidays, and must be added to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours. Scrub color is navy.
