HR Generalist

About the Position

Our client is seeking an HR Generalist to join their team and provide support across a broad range of human resources functions. This position is ideal for an HR professional early in their career who wants to develop hands-on experience in HRIS, benefits, recruiting, employee development, compliance, immigration, and employee relations.

The HR Generalist will play an important role in supporting employees and managers while helping administer HR programs, policies, and processes that support the company's workforce and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and support company human resources policies, procedures, and programs.
• Maintain accurate employee information and records within HRIS and other HR systems.
• Manage and maintain new-hire and employee-transfer onboarding processes.
• Prepare HR reports and metrics related to headcount, recruiting, benefits, training, safety, and other HR activities.
• Provide day-to-day administration of employee benefit programs and assist with the annual open enrollment process.
• Respond to employee questions regarding benefits, HR policies, and other HR-related matters.
• Track employee training and tuition reimbursement programs and assist with identifying and scheduling training opportunities.
• Support recruitment activities for exempt, non-exempt, and temporary positions, including coordinating the recruiting process from job opening through hire.
• Coordinate internship and apprenticeship programs.
• Assist with the development, revision, and implementation of HR policies, procedures, and programs.
• Assist employees with required documentation for international business travel, including visas and work permits.
• Monitor employment authorization and immigration status and coordinate with the company's immigration attorney as needed.
• Administer employee leaves of absence, including FMLA, STD, LTD, and personal leaves, and maintain appropriate updates in HR and timekeeping systems.
• Assist with compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including EEO, ADA, FMLA, ERISA, Department of Labor requirements, workers' compensation, and other applicable regulations.
• Support company Health, Safety, and Environmental initiatives and help promote a culture focused on workplace safety and compliance.
• Maintain confidentiality of employee and company information.
• Provide regular attendance at assigned job site(s).
• Perform other HR-related duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• 1–2+ years of professional Human Resources experience.
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive employee information appropriately.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with employees and managers at all levels.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
• Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.

Preferred

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field.
• Experience working with an HRIS and/or timekeeping system.
• Experience with employee benefits administration and open enrollment.
• Experience supporting recruitment and onboarding.
• Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR compliance requirements.
• Experience with training, tuition reimbursement, internship, or apprenticeship programs.
• SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or other HRCI certification is a plus, but not required.
