Site Coordinator - Haakon County PAWS Program
Black Hills Special Services Cooperative
Philip Elementary School – Haakon County PAWS Program Site Coordinator Are you someone who believes learning does not stop when the school bell rings? Do you love creating spaces where students can explore, connect, build confidence, and grow beyond the classroom? Black Hills Special Services Cooperative is looking for a Site Coordinator to help lead a high-quality out-of-school time program that supports students outside of the traditional school day while still complementing the learning, goals, and relationships built during the school day. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working with youth, supporting staff, collaborating with schools, creating meaningful activities, and being part of a program that makes a real difference for students and families. What You'll Do As a Site Coordinator, you will oversee daily program operations at an assigned school-based site operated by BHSSC. You will support students, supervise staff and volunteers, coordinate activities, communicate with families, and work closely with school-day staff to help create a consistent, supportive experience for students. This position is primarily on-site Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with flexibility in morning hours; however, attendance at scheduled morning meetings is required. This is a hands‑on, people‑centered, and fast‑moving role. No two days are exactly the same, so we are looking for someone who can stay organized, think on their feet, and lead with both structure and heart. Key Responsibilities Create a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for students. Plan, coordinate, and support after‑school, summer, and enrichment activities that complement the school day. Build positive working relationships with school‑day staff, families, students, and community partners. Communicate with school staff to support student success, program alignment, and consistency. Supervise and support part‑time staff, full‑time staff, and volunteers at the site. Help staff understand expectations, schedules, activities, and daily responsibilities. Support program activities that may include literacy, STEM, recreation, health, wellness, technology, cultural enrichment, and family engagement. Help ensure the program meets grant, state, federal, and organizational expectations. Collect and maintain program data, reports, attendance, documentation, and other required materials. Communicate regularly with program leadership regarding site needs, successes, concerns, and follow‑up items. Maintain confidentiality and represent BHSSC and the program in a professional and positive manner. Assist with staff training, feedback, problem‑solving, and daily site leadership. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is a dependable, organized, and energetic leader who has a passion for education both inside and outside of the classroom. They understand that out‑of‑school time programming is more than just after school; it is an opportunity to extend learning, strengthen relationships, support student growth, and provide meaningful experiences that complement the school day. Our Expectations Lead and motivate a team. Build strong relationships with students. Collaborate professionally with school‑day staff and community partners. Stay calm and solution‑focused during busy program moments. Communicate clearly with staff, families, students, and partners. Plan ahead and follow through on details. Support positive behavior and student engagement. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism. Work independently while also collaborating with program leadership. Bring creativity, consistency, and a student‑centered mindset to the role. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Administration, Child Development, Education, or a related field preferred. Two years of experience in child development, education, youth programming, or a related area preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Ability to work well with students, families, staff, school personnel, community partners, and the public. Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
