Job Description

The Staff Accountant plays a key role in maintaining accurate and reliable financial records by performing bank reconciliations, managing general ledger accounts, preparing journal entries, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. Responsibilities

• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations for multiple accounts to ensure the accuracy and completeness of cash records.

• Investigate and resolve discrepancies between bank statements and internal records in a timely and accurate manner.

• Prepare and post journal entries related to cash transactions and other routine accounting activities.

• Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including account reconciliations and preparation of supporting schedules.

• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure proper classification and accuracy of financial data.

• Support internal and external audits by providing documentation, schedules, and clear explanations as needed.

• Assist with other accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll as required.

• Ensure compliance with internal controls, established accounting policies, and relevant accounting standards.

• Use Excel tools such as pivot tables and VLOOKUP to analyze financial data and support reporting needs.

• Contribute to process improvements and help identify opportunities to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of accounting operations.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in performing bank reconciliations for multiple accounts on a regular basis.

• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and journal entry preparation.

• Experience supporting month-end and year-end close processes.

• Working knowledge of sales and use tax concepts in an accounting context.

• Ability to maintain accurate financial records and ensure the integrity of accounting data.

• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP.

• Attention to detail and strong analytical skills for identifying and resolving discrepancies.

• Ability to follow and support internal controls and accounting policies.

• Effective communication skills to provide clear explanations during audits and cross-functional work.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

• Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes.

• Familiarity with bank reconciliation tools and general accounting software.

• Interest in building a long-term career in accounting with a focus on growth and development.

• Ability to work collaboratively within an accounting team and support multiple priorities.

Work Environment

This is an on-site role based in the office five days a week, providing close collaboration with the accounting team and other departments. The environment supports hands-on learning and professional growth, offering opportunities to expand responsibilities and gain exposure to a broad range of accounting functions. Standard office technology and accounting tools are used regularly, with Excel serving as a key platform for data analysis and reporting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Gulf Breeze, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $31.00 - $33.17/hr.
