Accounting Specialist

Duties

You will be responsible for providing expert professional accounting services, financial analysis, and advisory support to the CIWT Comptroller.

This position is vital for ensuring fiscal integrity and compliance across the CIWT global domain.

You will provide authoritative financial analysis, system expertise, and operational accounting support to guide strategic command planning and decision-making.

You will review, analyze, and evaluate NAVY BEV/DAR-Q report and various financial statements.

You will compile centrally requested cost reports and variance analyses comparing actual results to budgets.

You will identify and resolve accounting anomalies, such as inadequate fund controls or inaccurate records.

You will manage and support critical month-end, quarter-end, and fiscal year-end close out activities.

You will assemble audit substantiation packages, ensuring that Key Supporting Documents (KSDs) are complete and readily accessible.

You will review and evaluate financial systems for effectiveness of internal controls and the integrity of financial information.

You will act as the primary command liaison with the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) to resolve systematic payroll, vendor pay, and accounting system anomalies that have command-wide impact.

This role is essential for safeguarding funds and enabling mission readiness.
