Description


The Maintenance Technician performs various maintenance and repair functions for the upkeep of Williams County buildings, facilities, and grounds.

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents in this position. • Performs a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repairs involving electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and groundskeeping
• Repairs minor plumbing issues, water leaks, and addresses sewer-related problems
• Executes minor electrical tasks, including changing lights and installing electrical plugs
• Maintains public grounds, including lawn maintenance, snow removal, and upkeep of walkways/parking
• Performs custodial duties, including cleaning floors and collecting garbage
• Ensures County buildings and grounds are safe and maintained, reports areas of concern to supervisor
• Repairs and maintains County equipment, including lawnmowers, tractors, trucks, and tools
• Maintains confidentiality of non-public records and makes available all data and information deemed a public record by the North Dakota Century Code

Typical Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED AND three (3) years of maintenance and/or janitorial experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Must possess a valid North Dakota Driver's License or equivalent
• Must pass a background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening

Supplemental Information

Special Working Conditions:

• Some work is performed outdoors with exposure to extreme temperatures and inclement weather
• Some work is performed in and around mechanical, industrial, and electrical equipment
• Exposure to chemicals, sewage, and dust
• Required to lift up to 60 pounds
• Occasional work outside of regular hours

Compensation: Starting pay ranges from $27.50 - $32.74 per hour, based on qualifications and experience. Williams County Offers a Generous Benefit Package, including Paid sick and vacation 12 paid holidays per years, fully paid health , dental and vision insurance for single, single plus dependent, or family contracts, term life insurance, long term disability insurance, fully funded retirement benefits through the North Dakota Public employees retirement system.

Employees who are at least 18 years of age and are working in a qualified position an average of 20 hours per week for five or more months of the year are required to participate in the North Dakota Public Employees Retirement System (ND PERS) Retirement Plan. Membership will become effective immediately upon employment.
