LABORATORY SPECIALIST I, School of Medicine, Microbiology

Position and Responsibilities The Douam Lab at the Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine Department of Virology, Immunology, and Microbiology (VIM) and the National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories (NEIDL) is seeking a Lab Manager to oversee lab operations. Responsibilities include: Managing the mouse colony and generation of mouse models, including breeding, maintaining Xeno recipient strains, performing and characterizing engraftments, and supporting lab members in applying these models to research projects. Overseeing lab operations such as ordering supplies, inventory control, scheduling, and coordinating communications within the lab and with external collaborators. Ensuring compliance with lab safety regulations, serving as the primary contact with the Lab Safety Office, and training incoming lab members on required protocols. Providing direct research support, assisting lab members with both animal and in vitro research, and contributing to contracted research projects. Carrying out an independent research project under the guidance of the PI, involving experimental planning and execution with some independent decision-making. Qualifications Bachelor's degree and 1-3 years of experience.
