The college hires part-time faculty on a quarter by quarter basis, dependent on enrollment. If you're selected for an interview for a potential future vacancy, a college representative will contact you.Essential FunctionsThe essential functions of the position include:Plan and develop a variety of instruction objectives and experiences appropriate to the program goalsIdentify individual learning needs of students and make appropriate adjustmentsDevelop and teach to the objectives of the approved curriculumDevelop and teach lessons which foster and support cultural diversity and non-discriminationTeach productive and constructive study skills to studentsDevelop classroom and lab procedures in conformance with identified policies and proceduresMaintain appropriate records which indicate student progress and meet college requirementsFollow disciplinary procedures as prescribed and deal consistently and fairly with all studentsDesign learning experiences for the unique characteristics of individual adult students through classes, individual instruction and self-directed learningPost the class syllabus and students' grades via the online course system (currently Canvas)QualificationsThe qualifications for the position include:Bachelors Degree2 years related work experienceClinical and/or college teaching experience requiredWA state OT or OTA license requiredAOTA membership preferredExcellent written and verbal communication skillsMust have sensitivity and ability to successfully interact with diverse populationsDue to the diversity of the college population, we encourage applicants who are multilingualPrevious experience with an online course system (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, Sakai, Moodle) preferredSupplemental InformationCompensation Placement on the faculty salary schedule is based on an individual assessment of education and experience. The salary for part time faculty contracts shall be based upon the number of credits assigned the faculty member, the type of class taught, and the rates contained in the part time faculty salary schedule currently in effect and labeled Appendix B.Benefits Once part-time faculty have worked 50% full-time or more for two consecutive quarters(with LWTech or combined with other community/technical colleges), Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, Disability and other insurance benefits are provided as currently administered under Public Employees Benefits Board, State Retirement Plan and a Deferred Compensation Plan; sick leave accrues at 1 day (Prorated based on % of FTE) effective upon employment.
