Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational or school environments
- Knowledge of the role and responsibilities of an ASL interpreter within a classroom setting
- Certification or licensure as required by state guidelines (or eligibility to obtain)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to adapt quickly to changes in schedule or environment
- A collaborative, team-oriented approach with a passion for supporting student success
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide real-time interpreting services between students, staff, and faculty members, ensuring accurate and respectful communication
- Support students with hearing impairments to fully participate in classroom activities and academic discussions
- Collaborate with educators and administration to adapt materials, strategies, or instructional techniques as needed
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
- Act as a cultural and linguistic bridge within the school community
