Make a meaningful impact each day by supporting students and staff as a Sign Language Interpreter in an educational setting. This contract opportunity is located near Decatur, GA and invites professionals who are passionate about fostering accessible and inclusive learning communities.
Your expertise will be vital in ensuring clear communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and the wider school community. If you thrive in dynamic environments and have a strong command of American Sign Language, this role is an excellent fit.
Desired Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated interpreting skills
- Previous experience interpreting in schools or educational programs
- Knowledge of educational terminology and best practices
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and support staff
- Professional certification as a Sign Language Interpreter is preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills
Core Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities between students and staff
- Facilitate communication during school events, meetings, and extracurricular activities
- Support students in understanding lessons and expressing their needs
- Adapt to individual and group needs within various age groups and subjects
- Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times
